The Final!

Ladies And Gentlemen The Final look!!,
Designed by Shahana Hanif
Styled by Rachel Rock (me!)
I was happy with how my final hair look turned out as i had practised allot
I started of by creating two padding's made of yak hair and hair nets which was much easier to form into the shape of my choice
I separated the hair in two parts back and front and started work on the front I made two plaits in the middle of the hair and pinned to the scalp for the padding to be placed on I then sectioned the front of the hair in two using one side I took a section of hair and backcombed it and laid the hair over the padding so it was fully covered and also adding the extra thickness that was required for this hairstyle,
using the same technique I applied the other padding to the other side but moving the padding more towards the middle so it would look slanted.

Using hairspray I smoothed the hair over the padding and pinning at the back.

I then began to curl the left over hair in the front taking small section, using a  curler i would wrap each piece of hair over the curlers for no longer than 4 seconds.

The back could have been done so much better because you can still see some of the padding coming through.
At the back of the head I parted the hair in two with one side I began to twist the hair starting from the back of the ear working down when I got to the the middle I pinned it and twist the rest all the way down,
I then wrapped the twist around itself and pinned to the head then repeated to the other side and pinned together.

finally adding the finishing piece i used a pearl necklace and placed over the top of the head and pinned at the back

final test run

This was the first attempt at Shahana's hair design which went better than i though it would i used curlers, two hair padding made of yak hair and hair nets
also a pearl necklace placed over the top of the head

At the back we experimented with different ideas from a bun to a twist, a wiggle plait pinned into itself and finally she cam to the decision of having two twist wrapped in a circler motion.

wiggle plait

I started of with a normal 3 way plait but at the end of the plait i held one section of the plait and slide upwards sliding the other two sections with it creating a wiggle plait and repeating the same technique with 4 other plaits and pinning them together

My Hair Designs

I designed 3 different hair designs as my potential final.
looking back at my research really helped inspire my designs and how I would modernise them.

The first design consist of crimping the hair for extra frizz and using padding forming a heart shape, at the back would be two large long curls with little pearls scattered around the hair

The second idea I thought of was using again the heart shape but having large twirled curls around the front of the head and two small twist or plaits either side starting from the middle to the back of the head and finishing with a bun at the back.

The last idea I thought of was using a really big exaggerated padding in the front of the head covered in small sized curls. at the back would be a long fishtail plait with white ribbon weaved into the plait.
my inspiration for these designs came from these pictures i had come across of contemporary elizabethan hairstyles whilst doing my research i picked the parts i liked most in the these hair designs and tried to incorporate them into my ideas

Ribbons and plaits

For this hair look I started of with a fishtale plait and wove a ribbon into the plait when it was finished

This look was slightly more difficult I began by separating the hair in two, I applied a twist around the front of the forehead and another at the back of the head so the two would connect I then wove the ribbon into the twist and finished with a bow at the end
